The Verona Wildcats girls basketball team is off to a hot start this season and to be honest, it comes as no surprise to fans that watch basketball with an unbias eye. They have everything that you look for in a team: great coaching, high IQ players, shooting, athleticism, and height. They have several scholarship caliber players on their team and some players talked about more than others but the player that has literally been a standout for them, in my opinion is Junior guard Reagan Briggs.
Reagan holds a D2 offer but has been flying under the radar and not being talked about as much as she should, she is the leading scorer for one of the states top teams. I have been impressed with how she has improved her confidence in shooting from the outside and letting it fly with no hesitation and connecting. Reagan has always been a problem for defenses in transition but is putting more pressure on the defense as she is blowing by defenders more in the half court because they have to honor her 3pt shot. Reagan is a good defender and just works while on the court, she is another talented 2024 player in the Dane Co. area. If Verona stays healthy look for them to make a run at state, I am sure this group wants to get back again.
