It's been a Minute

First off Happy New Year!

It's been a minute since I did a game write up but the game that I went to see on 1/7/23 didn't disappoint and was worth the wait, Madison East vs. Sun Prairie West. The intensity in the gym prior to the warm-ups was felt in the gym, it was felt by students, parents, and just basketball fans. The storylines were there from the coaches to the players, emotions running high, and technical fouls handed out. The long awaited and highly anticipated return of Clevon Easton Jr, new head coach of Sun Prairie West (former Madison East stand out and assistant coach), and Chris Davis Jr (former Madison East student athlete). These two teams have turned into instant rivals!

Madison East jumped out to a fast start led by Cameron Henderson, getting to his spots on the court especially his mid-range pull up jumpers off the dribble and getting to the foul line. Cam got Madison off to a great start and then Clevon aka Minute was subbed in and looked to get involved immediately. For a minute it looked like East was going to run away with the game after getting up by 20 points. I have no clue what kind of remember the titans halftime speech Coach Davis gave but his team responded in a big way led by senior Darius Chestnut and Chris Davis Jr, Sun Prairie West was determined to make this a game and took the lead. The game was not decided until the final seconds when Demond Laongoen iced it with clutch free-throws leading Madison East to a nail-biting win 75-73. Clevon led all scores with 26 while teammate Cameron Henderson added 20. Chris Davis led Sun Prairie West with 25 and Darius chipped in with 14 both fouling out. The intensity was brought, and the stage is set for round 2 when the teams will meet at Madison East on 2/14/23.......what a valentine's day treat, great date night for sports fan couples.
