Continuing on from the last write up of previewing the top half of the Big 8 Girls predictions, todays focus is on the Madison Memorial Spartans.
Last years 5th place finish was in large part due to the senior contributors led by McClain Mahone. Memorial I predict will finish in the top 5 again this season but will have new key contributors and I think it will be their depth that allows them to be dangerous. They have a combination of talented inexperienced young players (Avery, Arrianna, and Princess) and a few tough hard-nosed upperclassmen (Ace, Alexa Rose, Emerson, Lexi, and Neveah). Coach Marques Flowers will be tasked with getting this group on the same page in a hurry because they will be tested almost right out the gate with tough games early against Verona and Sun Prairie West while also playing two tough teams in Minnesota over Thanksgiving weekend. Emerson Myers, Naveah Harden, and Alexa Rose had good summers and will be looked to for leadership and bringing their young teammates on board, showing them what it takes consistently to win on this level. This team will pride themselves and hang their hats on the defensive end causing havoc and hoping to turn turnovers into easy points as scoring at times was tough for them last season.
